Moving on ... at least WE were! (13 July)

Yes, we really moved right along today, covering a good 300 miles to Sioux City on the border to Nebraska. And we had more luck than the unfortunate driver of this rig: a huge element of a windmill got stuck in the roof of a service station. We had seen several compositions going eastwards transporting the blades of the windmill, which were amazing enough. Note that the base of the windmill is loaded onto several sections of flatcar joined by cables (just click on the picture). We wondered how they are manouvered, but didn't stay around to see.

There was quite a storm front passing just to the east of us, but aside from some quite heavy rain at times, we were spared any unecessary adventures. Arriving at our hotel in the early afternoon, we spent time catching up on correspondence and just relaxing from the long drive. Dinner, however, was quite a delicious experience: a Mongolian restaurant. We had never been to one and were surprised and pleased at the originality of the meal and the quality of the food. Probably the healthiest meal we've had to date because of all the vegetables. Tomorrow it's on into Nebraska, and weather willing, along the Outlaw Trail!
